Zaylan Dante Bluhm, age 23 months, of Miller, South Dakota passed away on June 6, 2026, at Sanford Children's Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, from complications due to a ruptured appendix. He was surrounded by the love of his mother and his aunts.
A Celebration of Life honoring Zaylan will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Community Church at St. Lawrence, 815 E 3rd St. NW, located approximately 1.5 miles east of Miller, South Dakota. Family and friends are warmly invited to join in celebrating Zaylan's life and sharing memories. Lunch will be provided following the service.
Born on July 14, 2024, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Zaylan brought endless joy, laughter, and unconditional love to everyone blessed to know him. He was a happy, curious, and observant little boy who never wanted to miss out on anything happening around him. His bright smile could light up a room, and his playful spirit made every day an adventure.
Zaylan found happiness in the simple things. He loved chicken nuggets, fries, spaghetti, lasagna, garlic bread, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, and anything with noodles. He loved to play, explore, and spend time with those he loved most.
The greatest joy of Zaylan's life was the bond he shared with his mother.
Zaylan was also enrolled in the Birth to Three program, where he received PT, OT, and speech services from Amber, Tina, and Kelly, who supported him with care, encouragement, and love throughout his journey.
Though his time on earth was far too short, Zaylan leaves behind a lifetime of love. He will be deeply missed by his loving mother, Shantel Bluhm of Miller, SD; his aunts, Gina (Bradly Henson) and Zara Myers (Johnathan); extended family; and all whose lives were touched by his beautiful spirit.
Zaylan is survived by is mother Shantel Bluhm, aunts Gina (Bradly) Henson, Zara (Johnathan) Myers, uncle Colt Bluhm, cousins Dylan, Jaxon, Jamison, Zadiel, grandmother Sharon Myers, with lots of extended family, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Proceeded in death great grandparents Bernice and Dennis Reitz, great aunt Laena, great uncle Grant, cousin Jeanea, great aunt Beth, great grandparents Gene and Carol Bluhm.
