Wilma L. Cronin Spartz, age 92, of Huron, died Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at her home. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 am on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish in Huron with burial in St. Martin's Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be from 5-7 pm on Friday at the Welter Funeral Home in Huron with a scripture prayer service and rosary beginning at 7 pm; or one hour prior to the funeral mass at the church.

Wilma was born on August 8, 1923 in Wessington, SD to James and Minnie (Boesel) Doolittle. On July 8, 1944, Wilma was united in marriage to James Cronin at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Huron. Together, they farmed for many years on their dairy farm south of Huron before James passed away unexpectedly on September 10, 1987. Wilma served as a Clifton Township school board member, precinct chairperson for the Beadle County Democratic Party, and serving on the alter society of St. Martin's Catholic Church. On May 20, 1995, Wilma was united in marriage to Vernon Spartz at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Huron. They spent 18 years together before Vernon passing away on June 27, 2013.

Wilma enjoyed entertaining, shopping, spending time with her friends, baking, gardening, bird watching, and tending to her flower garden. She also treasured spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Wilma was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish.

Wilma is survived by 3 sons, Robert (Dianna) Cronin of La Crescent, MN, Craig (Jan) Cronin of Huron, and Pat (Janey) Cronin of Huron; 14 grandchildren, Robert (Deirdre) Cronin, Lauren Cronin, Leslee Cronin, Demetria (Daniel) Moon, Anthony (Kristin) Cronin, Ryan (Jenny) Myers, Vanessa (Bob) Perrenoud, Kelly Cronin, Scott (Krista) Cronin, Christina (Joe) Brock, Jennifer Cronin, James (Elise) Cronin, Erin (Justus) Bass, and Kyle Cronin; 20 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Harold (Faye) Doolittle of Huron; 1 daughter-in-law, Mary (Roy) Mehling of Wessington; 4 step-children, Jim (Donna) Spartz, Anchorage, AK, Elaine Stewart, Starke, FL, Dean (Mona) Spartz, Dakota Dunes, SD, and Dale (Donna) Spartz, Hastings, NE; 13 step-grandchildren, Chris (Katy) Spartz, Aaron (Sarah) Spartz, Angie (Adam) Kolbo, Jeff Spartz, Emily Spartz, Stephanie (Chuck) McHenry, Sarah Lambdin, Nick Spartz, Eric Stewart, Elizabeth Spartz, Matthew Spartz, Kimberly Spartz, Alyssa Spartz; 6 step great-grandchildren.

Wilma was preceded in death by her parents; Husbands, James and Vernon; 1 son, Dennis Cronin; 1 step-son-in-law, Dannie Stewart; and 2 brothers, Willis (Wilma's twin) and David Doolittle.
