William R. Maas, 77, of Iroquois, passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2023 at Huron Regional Medical Center. His Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 Monday, January 9, 2023 at Welter Funeral Home in Huron with burial at Maplewood Cemetery in Iroquois. Visitation, with his family present, will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

William R. Maas was born on June 30, 1945, to parents Elroy E. and Evelyn (Wipf) Maas in Rapid City, South Dakota. Bill grew up in Yale, attending school in Yale before graduating from Bancroft High School in 1963. After high school, Bill joined the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged. He met Pamela Moloch while stationed at Grissom Air Force Base in Indiana. Bill and Pamela were married on August 28, 1965, in Kokomo, Indiana. They lived in Kokomo for several years before moving to Iroquois in March of 1981.

Bill had many jobs throughout his life, retiring from Terex in April of 2014. Bill loved to camp and fish. Bill also enjoyed bowling and playing on bowling team for many years. He also enjoyed helping on the farm during harvest and when working cattle. He especially enjoyed attending his children and grandchildren's activities and sporting events.

He is survived by his wife, Pam of Iroquois; his children, LouAnn (Terry) Schoenfelder of Iroquois and Deb Maas of Mitchell; daughter-in-law, Laurie Maas of Cavour; 7 grandchildren, Josh Schoenfelder, Kyle (Ashlin) Schoenfelder, Eric (Shelby) Schoenfelder, Taylor Schoenfelder, Justin Maas, Adam Maas, and Kaitlyn Maas; 2 great-grandchildren, Leo Schoenfelder and Ruthie Schoenfelder; 3 sisters, Shirley Tschetter of Huron, Marilyn Mitzel of Yale, and Sharon (Roger) Korkow of Cavour; brother-in-law, Ferg (Kim) Nelson of Carpenter; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers and sisters-in-law.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, William E. Maas; sister Norma Nelson, sister and brother-in-law, Carol (Rich) Hofer, brother-in-law, Bob Mitzel, niece Jill Wurzer; and his mother and father-in-law, Viola and Sam Moloch.
