William (Bill) Maas, age 48 of Huron, passed away on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at his residence in Huron.  His funeral service will be 11:00 Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at the Welter Funeral Home in Huron with burial at the Maplewood Cemetery in Iroquois, SD.  Visitation will be from 3-6 pm on Tuesday, December 1, 2020, with family present from 5-6 pm at the Welter Funeral Home; or one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.  Masks are required for services. His funeral service will be live streamed on the Welter Funeral Home Facebook Page at 11:00 AM.

William E. Maas, the son of William and Pamela (Moloch) Maas was born on May 10, 1972 in Kokomo, IN.  He attended school and graduated from Iroquois High School in 1990.  Bill served his country in the United States Marine Corps and was honorably discharged.  Bill worked for Terex Manufacturing for many years.  He recently began working at the Glacial Lakes Ethanol Plant in Huron.

Bill was a firefighter with the Cavour Volunteer Fire Department.  He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, and riding his pontoon on the lake.  Bill also loved cooking and grilling.  Bill's family was very important to him and he was very proud of each one of his kids. He will be remembered as a fun loving and sometimes sarcastic guy who was always ready with a good movie quote.

Grateful for having shared in William's life are his wife, Laurie of Cavour; his children, Justin Maas of Mitchell, Adam Maas of Mitchell, and Kaitlyn Maas of Cavour; parents Bill and Pam Maas of Iroquois; sisters LouAnn (Terry) Schoenfelder of Iroquois and Deb Maas of Mitchell; and many nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

William was preceded in death by his grandparents, Samuel and Viola Moloch and Elroy and Evelyn Maas; and his father-in-law, Doug Tyrrell.
