Obituary
Wayne P. Zeeck, age 84, of Huron, SD, died Wednesday, November 24, 2010, at Huron Regional Medical Center.
His funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 29, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Cavour with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday from 1-8 p.m. at Welter Funeral home with the family present from 5-7 p.m., and a prayer service at 6:00 p.m., or Monday morning one hour prior to the service.
Wayne Paul Zeeck, son of Paul and Stella (Kief) Zeeck, was born on July 25, 1926, in Huron, SD. He grew up on the family farm southeast of Huron where he attended country school through the 8th grade, then attended and graduated from Cavour High School in 1945. Following graduation he continued to live on the family farm where he worked for his father.
On June 9, 1948, Wayne married Velda Peskey at Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Iroquois. The couple lived and farmed in Pearl Creek Township, rural Cavour, all of their married life. They moved to Huron in May of 2009.
He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Cavour, and a church council member; Pearl Creek Township Board; 4-H girls softball coach; James Valley Co-op Board.
In addition to being with his family, his many interests included his farm and his tractors; fishing; playing cards; visiting with his many friends and all of the strangers who became his immediate friend; attending local ball games; attending the Huron Area Antique Power Association; and attending the South Dakota State Fair.
He is survived by his wife, Velda of Huron; son, Doug (Mona) Zeeck of rural Cavour; 2 daughters, Sandra (Darwin) Cundy of Iroquois, and Tari (Nick) Heitmann of Lake City, SD; 1 daughter-in-law, Denise Zeeck of Gillette, WY; 12 grandchildren, Derrick (Carla) Zeeck, Mindy (Bryan) Eden, Tim Cundy, Brian (Jill) Cundy, Holly Cundy, Aric Zeeck, Randi Dulaney, Ryan (Melissa) Dulaney, Tanya (Neil) Hagre, Tosha (Zack) Heitmann, Tanner Heitmann, and Cody Heitmann; 11 great grandchildren, Caden Zeeck, Addison Zeeck, Brylee Eden, Bryson Eden, Benten Eden, Natalie Cundy, Destiny Dulaney, Devan Dulaney, Charlie Dulaney, Desirae Dulaney, and Clayton Dulaney; 1 great great grandchild, Savanaugh Dulaney; and 1 brother, Myron (Zona) Zeeck of Huron.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; and 1 son, Marty Zeeck.
