Wayne Songer, age 82, of Huron, passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at Huron Regional Medical Center in Huron. A family graveside service will be held in the Spring at Frankfort Cemetery in Frankfort, SD.

Wayne Allen was born on March 23, 1940 to parents Raymond and Hazel (Baughman) Songer in South Dakota. Wayne grew up on the family farm with 17 brothers and sisters. He loved to be outside, fixing and tinkering with different machines.

Wayne married Barbara Phillips in Huron. Wayne and Barb had two children, Lori and Scott. Wayne worked at Dakota Pork, Borky's Junkyard and Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery as groundskeeper. Wayne enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandkids.

He is survived by his children, Lori (Jon) Rens of Sioux Falls and Scott (Danielle) Phillips of Huron; 7 grandchildren, Lucas, Chloe, Kierra, Keegan, John Ryan, Beau and Austin; one sister, Leota (Lee) Story of Basset, Nebraska.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Barb; and several brothers and sisters.
