Wayne Ganske, age 92 of Wessington, SD passed away on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at the Huron Regional Medical Center. Per his request, there will be no service.
Wayne Ganske, the son of Benjamin C. and Rose Mary (Tauer) Ganske, was born on August 27, 1929 in Tulare, SD. He attended school for 8 years at the Tipton-Nance Township School in Tulare, SD. Wayne served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in May of 1955. Wayne worked as a farmer and rancher for many years until his retirement.
Wayne married Mavis "Babe" Snyder on August 27, 1962. The couple made their home on the family farm near Wessington, SD.
Wayne was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Wessington, SD. He was also a member of the VFW in Miller, SD and the American Legion in Wessington, SD. Wayne enjoyed telling stories and being a jokester. He also enjoyed "bible study" and his weekly visits with his friend Ray Waldner.
Grateful for having shared in Wayne's life are his son, Charles (Sara) Ganske of Iowa; his daughter, Cheryl (Tim) McCarty of Tulare, SD; seven grandchildren: Benjamin Paul, Ian (Kathy) Paul, Angelina (Richard) Shult, Shanna (Ryan) Hughes, Miranda McCarty, Melissa Ganske, and Robin Ganske; Several Great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Mavis; 2 daughters; a grandson; a great-great granddaughter; four brothers: Wesley, LeRoy, Earl and Marvin Ganske; and two sisters, Vernice (Leland) Munion and Arlene (Glenn) Briggs.
