Wanda Crowell, age 78, of Huron, SD, died Saturday, December 22, 2012, at her home. Her body has been cremated and her memorial service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 29, at Welter Funeral Home. There will be no visitation. Wanda Crowell was born Wanda Jean Cantonwine, daughter of Harold and Evelyn (Newland) Cantonwine, on July 15, 1934, in Huron, SD. She graduated from Huron High School in 1952. In 1953, Wanda married Darrell Bittner. Wanda worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Huron, and later for River Park Center in Pierre. In 1977 Wanda married George Crowell in Huron. She worked for Northwestern Public Service in Huron until her retirement. She was a member of Jehovah's Witness. She loved to garden and was an avid reader. Wanda is survived by 4 children, Steven Bittner of Montana, Sandra Whipple of Huron, Sheryl Burnett of Aberdeen, and Scott (Laurice) Bittner of Montana; 1 sister, Judi (Gene) Ashby of Huron; 6 grandchildren, Darrell Lee Bittner, Josh (Lisa) Bittner, Wendy Young, Jennifer Rose, Roy Phillip (Mandy)Burnett, and Tyler Bittner; 11 great grandchildren; and 2 nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, George in 2009.
