Wanda Bloodgood, age 79, of 1231 Simmons Ave SE, Huron, died Thursday, January 20, 2005, at the Huron Nursing Home. Her funeral service will be at 2:30 PM Monday, January 24th, at Riverview United Methodist Church with Rev. Ida Laudermith officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday afternoon and evening and Monday morning at the Welter Funeral Home or prior to the service at the church Monday afternoon. The family will be present from 7:00 to 8:30 PM Sunday evening at the funeral home. Wanda Bloodgood was born Wanda Eileen Decker on May 17, 1925, to David James and Caroline Julia (Fryer) Decker at Hitchcock. She attended rural schools and graduated from Huron High School in 1942. In 1948, she graduated from Huron College with a B.A. Degree in Liberal Arts. On November 28, 1946, she married Lewis Edward Bloodgood at the First Methodist Church in Huron and they made their home in Huron. She was employed at Lewis Drug and the Huron Public School System. She was a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Eight and Forty, and was a charter member of the Riverview United Methodist Church. She had also been a 4-H leader, Girl and Boy Scout leader, PTA officer, Mothers March Chairman, and sang in the church choir for many years. Wanda was an avid reader and loved crossword puzzles and word games. Above all she valued her family and kept in close contact with them and her extended family. She especially followed the activities of her grandchildren and was always attentive to what they were involved in and interested in their future plans. Her life can be described as one of servant hood. She is survived by a daughter, Charnelle (Gene) Scheel of Wolsey; and a son, Creighton (Marie) Bloodgood of Huron; two stepdaughters, Sharon (George) Nadow of Selma, OR, and Karen (Joe) Salazar of Selma, OR; four grandchildren, Darla Scheel and fianc, Corey Johnson of Moorhead, MN, Kaycee Bloodgood of Huron, Nathaniel Bloodgood of Huron, and Rhianon Bloodgood of Huron; six step grandchildren, Dan Nadow of Selma, OR, Debbie (Todd) Kaberline of Selma, OR, Edward (Linda) Morgan of Tucson, AZ, Janice Sleshman of Castlerock, CO, Michael (Karen) Wilson of Albuquerque, NM and Shelley Taylor of Colorado Springs, CO; five nieces, Reva (Roger) Pownell of St. Francis, KS, Connie Leberer of Littleton, CO, Janet (Richard) Cordes of Salinas, CA, Carolee Griffin of Rio Rancho, NM and Glenda (Ron) Predovich of Mound, MN; one nephew, Gregory (Geline) Kockrow of Redding, CA; an aunt, Dorothy Fryer of Huron; and many other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lewis on July 16, 1971; two sisters, Lucille Decker and Vivian Kockrow; two nephews, Ken Bloodgood and Richard Callahan; and two nieces, Billy Jean Sugihara and Evelyn Benston.
