Vivian J. Toelle, age 89, of Huron, died Monday, October 5, 2015 at Huron Regional Medical Center. Her funeral service will be 10:30 am on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at Welter Funeral Home with burial at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be from 5 to 7 pm on Friday at the funeral home with a prayer service and time of sharing at 7pm; or one hour prior to the service. Vivian was born on March 8, 1926 in Huron and raised with her two sisters Melva and Lois by their mother Mary (Welty) Petersen. Vivian attended public school in Huron graduated from Huron High School in 1945. Vivian was employed as a bank teller in Huron for many years. Vivian was a devoted mother to her beloved son, Doug who was born on January 13, 1952. Throughout his life, Doug brought great joy to Vivian and she was immensely proud of him and his accomplishments. Vivian enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, especially trips to Las Vegas and Texas. She spent the winter of 2003 in San Diego with a good friend and told her granddaughters it was one of the best times of her life. Vivian loved crocheting and made many blankets for friends and family. She especially enjoyed the time spent with her granddaughters and their children over the years. Watching them grow up and start their own families brought her much joy. Holidays and special occasions with extended family were important times to her as well. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Huron. Vivian is survived by 2 granddaughters; Stacy (Jeff) Dougherty of Sioux Falls and Amber (Lucas) Steiner of Summerset, SD; 2 sisters, Melva Carlson of Huron and Lois (Ted) Peterman of Huron; 5 great-grandchildren, Kaela and Robert Dougherty and Jackson, Ian, and Amelia Steiner; and many nieces and great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, her son Doug; niece, Cindy Winters; great nephew, Trisdon Rans; and brother in law, Hugh Carlson.
