Vivian R. Bethke, 90, of Huron, died on April 29, 2015. A family directed memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 4, 2015, at the Congregational United Church of Christ. Memorial visitation will be one hour prior to the service in the church fellowship hall. Vivian Ruth Malek was born on Sept. 7th, 1924 in Chicago, Ill. to George and Anna Malek. She graduated from Morton High School and attended Morton Junior College in Cicero, Ill. and graduated from the University of South Dakota, in Vermillion. On December 28, 1946, she married Ralph Lyle Bethke in Berwyn, Ill. Upon his graduation from chiropractic college, they moved to Huron. She was a member of the Congregational Church of Christ in Huron for 64 years. She was active in La Sertoma during the 1960's. She is survived by her four children, Paul (Linda) Bethke of Orlando, fla., Bill Bethke of Annapolis, Md., Alice (Dave) Wilson of Seattle, Wash., and Dan (Brigitte) Bethke of Raleigh, N.C.: two grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, and sister-in-law. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to The National Breast Cancer Foundation.
