Obituary

Virginia Rossman, age 92, of 50 7th St. SE, and formerly of 784 Illinois Ave NW, Huron, died Saturday, May 10, 2008, at the Violet Tschetter Memorial Home. Her funeral Mass will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish with Father Terry Anderson officiating. Burial will be at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 1:00 to 8:00 PM at the Welter Funeral Home with the family present from 7:00 to 8:00 PM or one hour prior to the Mass at the church Wednesday morning. There will be a Scripture Service followed by a Rosary at 7:00 PM Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Virginia Rossman was born Virginia Geraldine Kittelson on March 31, 1916, to John and Mabel (Minard) Kittelson at Beebe, South Dakota. She attended Riverdale Consolidated at Oakes, North Dakota and graduated in 1934. On October 12, 1939, Virginia married Samuel Rossman at St. Charles Catholic Church at Oakes, North Dakota. They lived in Webster, Aberdeen and in 1944 they moved to Huron where she has lived since that time. She worked at Raven Industry for several years and was also a seamstress. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish and a life-time member of the Huron Area Senior Center. She was a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader and she enjoyed spending time with her family and reading books. She is survived by her son, James (Gigi) Rossman of Monterey, California; two daughters, Susan (Donald) Demmers of Omaha, Nebraska and Margaret (Dale) Oechsle of Hitchcock, South Dakota; four grandchildren, Philip (Jodi) Oechsle, Steven (Trish) Oechsle, Sandra (Todd) Chasing Hawk, and Jon (Lori) Oechsle; seven great-grandchildren, Wade, Tyler, Devon, Tana, Shandi, Payton, and Janica; and one sister, Margaret Featherstone of Oakes, North Dakota. She was preceded in death by her husband Samuel Rossman on August 28, 1999, her parents and three brothers, Melvin, Arthur and LeRoy Kittelson.
