Obituary

Virginia Burrington, age 79, of St. Louis Park, MN, and formerly of Huron, died Wednesday, August 30, 2006 at the Methodist Hospital at Minneapolis, MN. Her funeral service will be at 11:00 AM Friday, September 8th at the Welter Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Cieniawski officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call after 3:00 PM Thursday afternoon and evening or Friday until the time of service at the Welter Funeral Home. The family will be present from 7:00 to 8:30 PM Thursday evening at the funeral home. Virginia Burrington was born Virginia Marcelle Lundgren on April 23, 1927, to Frank and Mildred (Holm) Lundgren in Huron. She attended grade school in Huron and graduated from Huron High School in 1945. In 1947, she married Donald Burrington at the First Baptist Church in Huron. In 1951, she and her son Teddy moved to Chicago, and then moved to Minneapolis, MN in 1952. For many years Virginia was a cook at the prestigious Minnesota Room at Southdale in Minneapolis. It was there she developed her love for cooking. After that she worked at First National Bank at Minneapolis as a data entry specialist until her retirement in 1992. Virginias favorite pastime was listening or watching her beloved Minnesota Twins. She attended the 1965 World Series game Twins vs. Dodgers, and there was rarely a game that she would miss. Virginia also enjoyed traveling with her sister Maxine and Maxines husband Pete. She traveled 40 of the 50 states and also went to England. She was also an avid reader of books and the Minneapolis Tribune. Her greatest joys were her son Ted and her grandsons, Blake and Ben. She is survived by her son, Ted (Debb) Burrington of Elbow Lake, MN; grandson Ben (Amy) Burrington of Maple Lake, MN; 4 step grandchildren, Justin (Elizabeth) Guttormson, Britt (Guy) Puthoff, and Nikolas and Elyse Guttormson; great grandson, Joseph Burrington of Maple Lake, MN; 2 step great grandchildren, Katrina and Callysta Guttormson; two sisters, Maxine (Pete) Zwansiger of Sioux Falls, and Arlys (James) Delvaux of Sioux Falls; one brother, Donald (Dorothy) Lundgren of Huron; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Russell, Claude and Arthur Lundgren, one sister, Ramona Wyant, and a grandson, Blake Burrington.
