Violet E. Friedrichsen, age 73, of rural Huron, died Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at the Huron Regional Medical Center. Her funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 23, 2008 at the American Lutheran Church with burial at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Welter Funeral Home and from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the American Lutheran Church with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. or one hour prior to the service at the church Friday afternoon. There will be a Prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the church. Violet Friedrichsen was born Violet Eleanor Fischer on September 30, 1934, to Reinhold and Olga (Hauff) Fischer at Baltimore, Maryland. In 1940, she moved to Kulm, ND, later to Aberdeen, and then to Oakes ND. She moved to Huron in 1951, and graduated from Huron High School in 1952. She worked at St. John's Hospital and attended Northwest College of Commerce in Huron and then worked at the State ASCS office until her marriage. On March 31, 1956, Violet married LeRoy Friedrichsen at the American Lutheran Church in Huron. She lived on a farm northeast of Huron her entire married life. She was a member of American Lutheran Church, Martha Circle, taught second grade Sunday school, served with LeRoy as Sunday school superintendent and served as an officer of ALCW. Her hobbies were quilting and gardening. She is survived by her husband LeRoy of rural Huron; four sons, Curt (Joan) Friedrichsen of Watertown, Stewart (Shirley) Friedrichsen of rural Huron, Doug (Brenda) Friedrichsen of Huron and Brian (Jackie) Friedrichsen of Wolsey; 11 grandchildren and step grandchildren, Ashley (Travis) Vesely of Boise, Idaho, Britney Friedrichsen of Fargo, North Dakota, Chris (Mandy) Mulder of Burlington, Iowa, Nathan (Rachel) Mulder of Sioux Falls, Lindsey, Crystal, Andrea, and Robert Friedrichsen all of Huron, and Vanessa, Chase and Haley Luke of Wolsey; 4 great grandchildren, Zoe, Jasper, Torin and Aislynn Mulder. She was preceded in death by her parents, her grandson Thomas Matthew Friedrichsen on August 13, 1985, one brother Walter Fischer, and several aunts and uncles.
