Viola "Vi" Lorenz, age 82, of Huron died Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at StoneyBrook Suites in Huron. Her funeral will be 2:00 pm Friday, October 2, 2015 at the United Methodist Church in Esmond with burial in the Esmond Cemetery. Visitation with family present will be from 1-2 pm Friday, October 2, 2015 at the church. Viola Margaret Stevens was born on February 5, 1933 in Carthage, SD, to Artimus and Mary (Tobin) Stevens. She attended Argon High School. Vi married Elmer Lager and they had three children together; Randy, Mary, and Richard. She was a waitress at several cafés around the Carthage area. Vi married Ed Bushman on September 28, 1958 and they had one child together, Rod. Vi worked for the Plains in Huron for a time. She married Lyle Lorenz on February 12, 1983 in Florida. Vi was a member of the Esmond Methodist Church and was an active member of the ladies aide. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and keeping her garden. Vi also was an avid and "creative" card player and she loved dancing. Vi is survived by her husband, Lyle Lorenz of Huron; three sons, Randy (Pam) Lager of Carthage, Richard Lager of Rapid City, Rod (Kathy) Bushman of Sioux Falls; three stepchildren, Dan (Peggy) Lorenz of Georgia, Steve (Brenda) Lorenz of Sioux Falls, Kris (Steve) Kappler of Iroquois; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Vi was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Mary Lager; stepson Rodney Lorenz; six sisters; and one brother.
