Vincent William Shally, age 91, of Sun City, AZ, formerly of Huron, passed away on January 11, 2009.

His graveside service will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 21, 2009, at St. Martins Cemetery in Huron.

Vincent was born August 23, 1917, to Patrick and Annie (McWalters) Shally. He served as a Captain in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. Vincent received his B.S. in Forestry from U.C. Berkeley, and his Masters Degree from Harvard University.

Vincent was the State Soil Conservationist for the State of South Dakota, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, the Bell Metal Club, and the Knights of Columbus, Council #779, Huron, SD.

Vincent is survived by his wife, Helen; children, Kevin Shally, Timothy (Laura) Shally, and Laurie (Greg) Parker; step-children, Jon Kalinowski, Katherine (Walter) Taff, and Patricia Kalin; and two grandchildren, Katy and Amy Jane.
