Veronica Johnson, age 82, of Huron, SD, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 9, 2026 at Huron Regional Medical Center, surrounded by the love of her family. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 14, 2026 at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish in Huron with burial at St. Paul’s Cemetery in Iroquois, SD. Visitation with her family present will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 13, 2026 at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish with a scripture and rosary service starting at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the service on Thursday morning at the church.
Veronica Jeanine (Rogers) Johnson was born in Iroquois to Margaret and Myron Rogers. She graduated from Iroquois School and dedicated more than 40 years to Farmers and Merchants Bank in Iroquois, where she became a familiar and trusted face in the community.
On May 20, 1967, Veronica Rogers married the love of her life Marlin Johnson at St. Paul Catholic Church in Iroquois. Together they built a loving home centered around faith, family, and community.
A faithful and active member of St. Paul Catholic Church and Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Veronica lived a life devoted to others. She enjoyed reading to elementary students at the Iroquois School and adventures with her loving dog, Puppers. She found joy in hobbies such as stamp collecting, cards, dominos, bingo, bowling, and playing softball. Above all else, Veronica cherished time spent with her family, creating memories that will be treasured forever.
She is survived by her daughter, Nikki (Jason) Bankston; granddaughters Jordan Vaudrin (Cody), Maddie Vaudrin (Zach), and Jacelyn Bankston (Carter); great-grandchildren Bentley Campbell, Baron Vaudrin, and Bowen Quiram; and her sister, Paula (Ron) Clark, along with many other loving relatives.
Veronica was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Marlin Johnson; her parents, Margaret and Myron Rogers; her brother, Thad Rogers; her sisters, Marcia Muilenburg and Roberta Rogers; and many other cherished family members.
Veronica’s kindness, faith, and love for her family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
