Verola Luella was born on September 27, 1921, in rural Wessington Springs, South Dakota, to Robert and Mary (Baltzer) Redmann. Her early years were spent on the family farm 14 miles west of Wessington Springs with one older sister and one younger sister and many cousins within walking distance. She attended country school until 9th grade when she moved into town to attend high school, graduating in 1939.
She attended Wessington Springs Academy and Dakota Wesleyan University to gain her teacher's certificate. She taught country school in rural Wessington Springs and 5th grade in DeSmet. Later, after additional education at Northwest College of Commerce, she worked at Standard Oil offices in Huron. During this time, she met David J Wipf and they were married in 1955. Beginning in 1957 they had 4 children within 4 years. Early on they attended the Huron Mission Church, and she was a lifelong member of the church, teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir and special small groups, being involved in Women's Missionary Prayer Fellowship, and giving to help support missionaries. She loved the Lord Jesus and knew Him as her Savior and Lord.
After her husband, David, passed away in 1981, she worked part time as a bank janitor and the church janitor. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, her sisters and their families and many friends. She also did some traveling on bus tours. Verola will be remembered for her quiet, calm, humble spirit.
