Verna M. Rodman, age 83, of Huron, passed away on Sunday, May 27, 2018 at her residence.

A memorial service to celebrate Verna's Life will be at 1pm on Friday, June 1, 2018 at the Welter Home in Huron with inurnment following at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Memorial visitation will be one hour prior to the memorial service on Friday.

Verna Mae Oechsle, the daughter of LeRoy and Hazel (Payne) Oechsle, was born on May 20, 1935 on the family farm in Spink County.  She attended schools in Redfield and Hitchcock, graduating from Hitchcock High School.  Verna also attended Huron College.

Verna was united in marriage to (Frank) Blair Rodman on November 11, 1955 at the First United Methodist Church in Huron, SD.  They made their home in Huron where she worked as a bank employee, bookkeeper, and merchandiser.

Verna was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Huron for over sixty years.  She was also a member of the Moose Club and several different dance clubs.  Verna enjoyed music, dancing and attending Polka Festivals. She was an avid walker, gardener, and woodworker.

Grateful for having shared in Verna's life are her sons: Mike (Norene) Rodman of Rapid City, SD and Greg (Deb) Rodman of Salt Lake City, UT; daughter, Martie Stulken of Aurora, SD; five grandchildren: Emily and Zach Rodman, Matthew Stulken, and Taryn and Blake Rodman; step-grandson, Troy (Kari) Stulken; two step-great grandchildren, Megan and Molly; three sisters: Gladys Swope, Mona (Jerome) Kleinsasser, and Sharolyn (Don) Johnson; brother, Dale (Margaret) Oechsle; brother-in-law, Veryl (Kay) Eschen; and other family and friends.

Verna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Blair; three sisters:  Lavonne, Margie, and Doris; four brothers: Junior, Galen, Donnie, and Dick; and son-in-law, Dean Stulken.
