Beanie was born August 24, 1941 in Huron, SD to Carl and Mildred (Stone) Wetrich.

Beanie married Richard "Bud" Bates on December 6, 1959 in Huron. She worked at Burnison Plumbing & Heating and later for Prostrollo Motor Sales in their warranty department.  Beanie  graduated from Huron High School in 1959, attended Northern State College in Aberdeen, SD and after the death of her beloved husband, Bud in 1988, she returned to school, completing her degree in Elementary Education and graduating summa cum laude from Huron College in 1991. Beanie loved to bird watch.  She always knew when the robins were back in the springtime.  She would talk about the owls and how the hawks and squirrels stalked her birdfeeder.  She loved her cats, and especially loved her best dog in the world Buddy.  Buddy would whine 'I ruv you" to her.  She also enjoyed working her puzzle books, reading, embroidery, knitting, sewing and playing Angry Birds.  Longtime residents of Huron will recognize the Pumpkin House which was built for Beanie's second birthday.

She is survived by her four children who will miss her greatly: daughter, Elizabeth Parham, Huron, SD, daughter, Carol and her husband Steven Lake of Bellevue, NE, daughter, Diana and her husband Bruce Lininger of Melbourne, FL, and son James and his wife Natascia Bates of Marsure, Friuli-Venezia, Italy.
