Obituary

Vera Farrell, age 78, of 50 7th St. SE in Huron, died Monday, February 5, 2007, at the Violet Tschetter Memorial Home. Her funeral mass will be at 11:30 AM Friday, February 9, at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish with Father Joe Holzhauser officiating. Burial will be at St. Patricks Cemetery at Cavour. Friends may call Thursday afternoon and evening at the Welter Funeral Home or prior to the mass at the church Friday morning. There will be a Scripture Service at 7:00 PM Thursday evening at the funeral home. Vera Farrell was born Vera Bell Yost on November 19, 1928, to Dennis and Alice (Sherod) Yost at Kingfisher, OK. She attended the Alpha Country School near her home through the eighth grade, attended school in Omega, OK, through the 10th grade, and graduated from Kingfisher High School in 1946. Following graduation Vera worked at the TG&Y Variety Store, Bills Bakery, and Walton Drug Store, all in Kingfisher. On November 9, 1949, Vera married Martin Farrell in Kingfisher. The couple made their home in Loyal, OK, until 1957, when they moved to a farm north of Cavour, SD. She worked as a cook at the Colonial Caf, and the Plains, all in Huron. She was an active member of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, and had prepared meals for many years at the Cavour Senior Citizens Center. Vera enjoyed cooking, baking, and visiting with her family and many friends. She is survived by 5 children, Vicki (Chuck) Holbrook of Whitefish, MT, Mike (Mary) Farrell of Cavour, SD, Judy (Larry) Brandsrud of Watertown, SD, Jim (Deb) Farrell of Ottertail Lake, MN, and Annett (Larry) Podhradsky of Woonsocket, SD; 9 grandchildren, Gayle (James) Stahl, B.J. Podhradsky, Jessie (Doug) Wolf, Kyle Holbrook, David (Karla) Farrell, Nick Podhradsky, Linsey Holbrook, Phillip Podhradsky, and Michelle Brandsrud; 3 great grandchildren, Sadie Stahl, Weston Stahl, and Drew Farrell; 1 sister, Glenna (Keith) Shipley of Kingfisher, OK; 2 stepbrothers, Mike (Helen) Emmel of Prairie City, OR, and Mickey Emmel of Prairie City, OR; 1 sister-in-law, Margerite Cain of San Antonio, TX; and 2 brothers-in-law, Joe Farrell of Kingfisher, OK, and Sylvan Farrell of Fremont, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Martin on June 10, 1985; her stepfather, Walter Emmel; an infant brother; 2 brothers-in-law, Chester Farrell, and Francis Farrell; and 4 sisters-in-law, Evelyn Farrell, Henrietta Farrell, Marie Farrell, and Betty Farrell.
