Vera Fader, age 88, of Rapid City, and formerly of Huron, died Friday, January 27, 2006, at Fountain Hills Nursing Home at Rapid City. Her funeral service will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday, January 31, at the Huron Wesleyan Church with Rev. Robert Theis and Lauralee Holsing officiating. Burial will be at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call Monday afternoon and evening at the Welter Funeral Home or prior to the service at the church Tuesday morning. The family will be present from 7:00 to 8:30 PM Monday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Black Hills Workshop, or Special Olympics. Vera Mae Davis was born to John and Ola (Wiles) Davis on March 19, 1918, in Esmond, SD. She was raised in the Esmond area and attended schools in Iroquois, SD. In July of 1944, she married Marvin Fader at Carthage, SD. They farmed near Artesian until 1951, when they moved to Huron, SD, where they made their home together for forty years. Vera sold Avon Products and worked at St. Martins rectory, but mostly, she worked as a homemaker, caring for her husband and four children. She was a thirty year member of the Huron Wesleyan Church. Her favorite pastime was singing and listening to music of all kinds. After her husbands death on September 2, 1989, she moved to Rapid City to be close to her family. She is survived by one son, Tommy Fader of Rapid City; two daughters, Shari (Bob) OKeefe of Rapid City, and Cheryl Schamp of Billings, MT; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marvin; a son, Jerry Lee Fader; a granddaughter, Alexis OKeefe; and two brothers, Jerry Davis, and Bob Davis.
