Vera Corcoran, age 92, formerly of 34 2nd St. SE, Huron, died Monday, March 13, 2006, at the Huron Nursing Home. Her funeral mass will be at 10:30 AM Saturday, March 18, at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish with Father Joe Holzhauser officiating. Burial will be at St. Martins Cemetery. Friends may call Friday afternoon after 2:00 PM and Friday evening at the Welter Funeral Home or prior to the mass at the church Saturday morning. There will be a Scripture Service at 7:00 PM Friday evening at the funeral home. The family may be reached at the Cherryl Corcoran residence, 767 Lawnridge Ave. SE, in Huron. Vera Rose Anderson was born on April 18, 1913, to Gustav and Thresa (Hook) Anderson in rural Hitchcock, SD. She attended rural school On June 12, 1934, Vera married Charles Corcoran at St. Martins Church in Huron. They made their home in Huron. Vera was employed at the J.C. Penny Company for many years. She and her husband and their son, Jerry, owned and operated Huron Cleaners for 45 years before they retired. Vera and Charles were charter members of the Mr. & Mrs. Dance Club. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish (St. Martins Church.) She is survived by a daughter, Sharon Hoy of Indianapolis, Ind; a daughter-in-law, Cherryl Corcoran of Huron; six grandchildren, Lt. Col. Scott (Renee) Corcoran of Alexandria, VA, Bret (Jan) Corcoran of Brandon, SD, Tim (Diane) Corcoran of St. Cloud, MN, Lisa Cranston of Huron, SD, Rick Hoy of Elkhart, Ind, and Jason (Michelle) Hoy of Indianapolis, Ind; 17 great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles on April 19, 2003; son, Jerry Corcoran on April 22, 2005; son-in-law, Richard Hoy on May 6, 1995; her parents; stepfather Owen Graden; 2 brothers, Roy and Neal Anderson; and 4 sisters, Rae Kenison, Hazel Specht, Edith Poulisse, and an infant sister, Edna. Casket Bearers will be Lt. Col. Scott Corcoran, Bret Corcoran, Tim Corcoran, Lisa Cranston, Rick Hoy, and Jason Hoy.
