Valerie (Flanagan) McGibbon, age 66, died on Saturday, July 15, 2023 in Winter Haven, Florida following a long illness. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at Welter Funeral Home in Huron, with burial to follow at St. Martin Cemetery.

Valerie was born in Vermillion, South Dakota on April 13, 1957 to Paul and Laura Flanagan. Valerie graduated from Huron High School in 1975. She attended SDSU in Brookings, South Dakota. She graduated from Control Data Institute in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Valerie married John McGibbon on November 25, 1983 in Huron, South Dakota.

She worked in hospital computer companies for several years in Minneapolis before moving to Florida where she was Senior Manager of Imaging and Information Systems for Florida Hospital.

Valerie is survived by her two sons, Travis (Laramie) McGibbon, Sarasota, Florida and Cody McGibbon, Los Angeles, California; her mother, Laura Flanagan, Sioux Falls, SD; one brother, Dan (Michelle) Flanagan, Berthoud, Colorado; three sisters, Jeanne (Brian) Wheeler, Sioux Falls, SD; Kathleen (Brant) Rossman, Spring Park, MN; and Lisa (Jim) Hoyt, Fort Collins, CO.

She was preceded in death by her father, Paul Flanagan and grandparents.
