Travis Schmidt, age 44, of Hartford, South Dakota, passed away on Thursday, August 27th, 2026, quietly at home from a massive heart attack.

Travis Lawrence Schmidt was born on April 24, 1982 in Huron to parents Lawrence and Janis (Pagel) Schmidt. 

He graduated from Western Dakota Tech, he got a job with Golden West, where he spent almost 19 years working for them as a phone technician. He enjoyed spending time with his many hobbies, not limited to: playing Xbox with friends he'd been with since little league baseball.

Travis is survived by anyone he had the chance to meet. One dose of Travis and you loved him. His crooked smile, his dimples, and his belly laugh. If you ever heard it, you'd know he was probably up to no good. He will be sorely missed.

He is survived by his mother, Janis Schmidt, and his brother, Chad (Danielle), his niece Lily and nephew Cole; several cousins, his great-aunt Margaret Schmidt, and the many friends he had at Golden West.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Schmidt. 

A celebration of life will be held at the American legion in Hartford, South Dakota at a date and time to be determined.
