Anthony "Tony" James Arteman was born December 23, 1962, to Elizabeth "Betty" (Ward) and Ronald Arteman in Huron. He attended school in Huron, graduating in 1981.  Tony was an excellent athlete and excelled in basketball, baseball, football, and golf.   He was a proud member of the 1981 Class AA state basketball champions who were inducted into Huron High School Hall of Fame in September 2010.

Tony married Brenda Pietz on May 28, 1994, at 1st Presbyterian Church in Huron.

Tony worked in many different capacities, mostly in sales/service:  Safelite Auto Glass, Rocket Lube, Gary Zell's Auto Glass, Farm Bureau, Prostrollo Motors and CFI.

His passion for sports began as a young Minnesota Vikings fan, spending Sunday afternoons watching with his father, Ron. He also became an avid Minnesota Wild Hockey fan as his son progressed in the Huron Hockey Association. Tony was an active parent in his children's activities: Washington School PTA President, Tiger Roar volunteer, Huron Hockey volunteer and boys' varsity coordinator.  He enjoyed supporting Emily and Drew in all their activities; never missing a football, volleyball, basketball, hockey, dance, or music event.  He was the parent who stayed up and waited for the kids to come home to talk about games, friends, and their lives.  He was the cook in the home and made everyone's favorites dishes, especially his spaghetti.  He led his life caring for others and supported his family in every possible way.

He took such good care of the ones he loved.  Even in the last few months of life, he made sure any home projects that he hadn't gotten to were completed for Brenda and Betty.  He never missed the opportunity to spend time or talk on the phone with his buddies.  He especially loved spending time at the Huron Country Club, participating in Men's League, HCC Invitational, and his favorite the Junior/Senior Golf Tournament with his kids.

Tony is survived by his wife, Brenda of Huron, children Emily (Shawn Kuhnel) Arteman of Sioux Falls, Andrew "Drew" Arteman of Mankato MN, his mother, Betty Arteman of Huron, sisters Mary (Scott) Zwieg of Indio, CA and Shawna (Mike) Blasing of Glen Ellen, CA.  Brother in law Russell (Ginger) Pietz of Aberdeen, Sister-in-law Marcia (Joel) Solie of Morgan, MN, brother-in-law Brian (Michelle) Pietz of Lester Prairie, MN; Nieces and nephews Zachary (Lindsey) Zwieg, Courtney (Lloyd) Zwieg, Zane Zwieg, Katie Blasing, Lucas Blasing, Jason (Samantha) Heiling, Laura (Chris) Zimmer, Marcus (Lexi) Heiling, Mallory (Kyle) Verdoes, Matt Pietz, Bailey Pietz, Abigail Pietz, Riley Pietz.
