Tom Harvey, age 75, of Huron, died Saturday, March 16, 2013, at Huron Regional Medical Center. Visitation with family present will be Monday, March 18, from 5-8 p.m. at Welter Funeral Home. Following the visitation Tom's body will be cremated. In Celebration of Tom's Life, friends are invited to gather Tuesday evening, March 19, from 6-8 p.m. at the Lois and Tom Harvey residence, 1811 Riveridge Ave. SE, in Huron. Thomas Richard Harvey, son of Roland and Rose (Delvaux) Harvey, was born on July 14, 1937, in Huron, SD. He grew up in rural Cavour where he attended school. On August 3, 1956, Tom married Lois Jaquette in Huron. The couple moved to Montevideo, MN, where Tom worked for Montgomery Wards. He later attended Southern State College in Springfield, SD, for a period of time, studying electronics. The couple then moved to Huron. Over the years, Tom owned and operated Harvey's Radio and TV (sales and repair); Custom Auto Body; Fair City Motel; Thomas Cars and Marine; Mister Muffler; and Tom Harvey Land Farm (cleaning contaminated soil). Tom officially retired in 1995 however he continued to work the Land Farm. He was a past member of Muskies, Inc. His many interests included fishing, car racing, camping, gardening, and traveling (Canada in the summer and Arizona in the winter). Tom is survived by his wife, Lois of Huron; 4 children, Cindy (Evenson) Norris and her husband Donnie of Lincoln, NE, Wenda Hornig and her husband Bill of Yale, SD, Douglas Harvey and his wife Carrie of Huron, SD, and Mark Harvey and his wife Janell of Huron, SD ; 9 grandchildren, Tish Evenson, Nissa (Manuel) de la Torre, Kyle Hofer, Kimberly Hofer, Shawn (Amber) Harvey, Cassandra (Justin) Plooster, Aaron Harvey, Bailey Harvey, and Kayla Harvey; 6 great grandchildren, Ryan, Kara, Ethan, Evan, Darius, and Thorin; 1 brother, and 1 sister. He was preceded in death by his parents; and 1 sister.
