Thorvald Tub Anderson, 80, of Hitchcock, died Wednesday, September 12, 2007 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota. His funeral service will be Monday, September 17, 2:00 pm at the United Methodist Church in Hitchcock with Rev. Mark Britton officiating. Burial will be at the Altoona Cemetery at Hitchcock with Military Graveside Rites by the Raymond-Hart American Legion Post #84 of Hitchcock. Vistitation will be at Welter Funeral Home in Huron on Sunday from 1:00 to 8:00 pm. and at the church one hour prior to the service on Monday. Thorvald Dean Anderson was born January 5, 1927 at Hitchcock to John and Dagmar [Larsen] Anderson. This is the area he grew to adulthood and attended school. He graduated from Hitchcock High School with the class of 1945. After his graduation he entered the United States Army and was honorably discharged on January 25, 1947. Returning to the Hitchcock area, he farmed with his brothers: Raymond and Harold. Tub married Berniece Lebahn Sentell on February 16, 1963 at Huron, SD and they farmed together north of Hitchcock. He served as the Clerk for Cornwall Township for many years and was a member of the Raymond-Hart American Legion Post #84 in Hitchcock for 55 years. Tub enjoyed hunting deer, geese, and pheasants, playing pinochle, driving around and checking his crops, and esp. liked to watch bull riding and rodeo. When he was younger he liked to judge horse shows. Thorvald is survived by his wife: Berniece of Hitchcock; two sons: Michael [Mary Odland] Sentell of Hitchcock and Larry Anderson of Hitchcock; two grandsons: Richard Sentell of Huron and Cody [Amy] Sentell of Troy, Montana; one great-grandson: Nathin Sentell of Troy, Montana; one sister: Herdis [Robert] Rudd of Rock Valley, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents: three sisters: Janice Anderson, Helen Anderson, Marian Summerside; and four brothers: Clement, Harold, Raymond, and Melvin Anderson.
