Thomas M. Ames, age 61, of Huron, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 10, 2020 at his home. A private service will be held at a later date.

Thomas Manley Ames was born on November 13, 1958 to parents John and Darleen (Stam) Ames in Huron. He graduated from Huron High School. He entered the United States Army in March of 1979 and was honorably discharged in February of 1983. He received a Good Conduct Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon and Army Commendation Medal.

Tom married Debra Baysinger on May 2, 1990 in Huron. Tom worked for the State of South Dakota, Red Wilk Construction, and the City of Huron. He also worked for Venture Communications for 20 years.

He liked to collect payphones, pinball machines and clocks.

He is survived by his wife Debra of Huron; children, Sunshine Lenning-Keefe (Dale) of Huron, Breeze Lenning (fiancé Chad Vaughn) of Missouri, and Zachariah Lenning of Sioux Falls; 4 grandchildren, Paytyn Lenning, Layla Lenning, Harley Lenning, and Kameron Lenning; sister Jill (Kevin) Minske of Huron and brother Martin Ames; and his mother Darleen Ames.

He was preceded in death by his father, sister Elizabeth, aunts, and grandparents.
