Thelma Cambronne, age 95, of Huron, passed away on Monday, August 31, 2026 at Huron Regional Medical Center in Huron. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 at First Baptist Church in Huron with burial to follow at Ideal Cemetery in Huron. Visitation, with her family present, will begin at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, September 8, at First Baptist Church.

Thelma Boos was born to Fred and Eddy (Black) Boos on August 20, 1931, in Huron, South Dakota. She graduated from Huron High School in 1949. In the mid-1970s, she attended Northwest College of Commerce.

Her first full-time job was at Valet Cleaners. She worked in retail for J.C. Penney for a total of six years in Huron and later in Boise. She moved to Northwestern Bank, where she was a teller for two and a half years. She later worked for Ravens for six years. She worked for Concrete Products for five years and managed the Jack Rabbit Bus Depot for one year. She also owned and managed the Book Center in Huron for two years.

Thelma and Rodney were married one week after her nineteenth birthday. Together, they had sons James and Thomas, as well as daughters Ruth and Carolyn.

She loved music, reading, fishing, the dramatic arts, and traveling. Thelma enjoyed driving and taking road trips. She loved reading romance and mystery novels and even wrote a romance novel of her own titled, Could You Love Me. Writing letters to friends and family was important to her.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Huron, South Dakota. She and Rodney were youth directors for the youth fellowship at a Baptist church in Boise, Idaho.

Throughout her life, she was also a member of churches in Hardin, Montana, and Watertown, South Dakota. She also maintained her membership in the National Active and Retired Federal Employee Organization (NARFE).

Thelma is survived by James Cambronne and Nancy Davies of Jamaica Plain, MA; her son, Thomas Cambronne of San Francisco, CA; her daughter, Ruth Bush of Paris, TX; and her daughter, Carolyn Cambronne of Springfield, MO.

Thelma was preceded in death by her husband, Rodney; her mother and father, Eddy and Fred Boos; her sister, Alice Boos; her brother and sister-in-law, Don and Mary Boos; her brother and sister-in-law, Loren and Charlet Boos; and her son-in-law, Dennis Bush.
