Terry Norris, age 66, of Huron, SD, died Monday, December 2, 2013, at Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls. Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 7, at American Lutheran Church with burial at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Joint visitation with family present will be Friday, December 6, from 6-8 p.m. at Welter Funeral Home; or Saturday morning afternoon one hour prior to the service at the church. Terron Meyer, daughter of William and Fern (Backman) Meyer, was born on December 11, 1946, in Winona, MN. When she was in the 3rd grade she moved with her family to Huron where she graduated from Huron High School in 1965. Terry attended SDSU for 3 years in nursing, transferring to St. John's Hospital School of Nursing in Huron for completion of her nursing degree in 1971 as an RN. Terry then worked for St. John's Hospital for the next 5 years. On September 11, 1971, Terry married Deone Norris in Huron. In 1976 the couple moved to Hot Springs, SD, where she worked for 2 years at the State Veterans Home; and then 22 years at the VA Hospital in Hot Springs where she worked in many departments but her passion was working in the Psychiatric Ward. Terry medically retired in 2000 and in 2002 the couple returned to Huron. In August of 2013 they moved to Sioux Falls. In Hot Springs she was a member of the Lutheran Church and a Girl Scout Leader. In Huron she was a member of the American Lutheran Church, the church circle, and the Colfax Rebekah Lodge #9. Terry also was a member of a Bible study group that met each Tuesday which she faithfully attended. Her many interests included her love for flowers, music, anything to do with her church, and her enjoyment of picture painting. Terry is survived by her husband, Deone of Huron; 3 daughters, Leslie (Clyde) Shuemake of Taylor, MI, Laurie (Mike) Johnson of De Smet, and Lynn (Eric) Peterson of Sioux Falls; 5 grandchildren, Ethan Johnson, Kaleb Johnson, Spencer Johnson, Austin Johnson, and Lucas Peterson; 3 sisters, Kathy (Rodney) Norfleet of Grand Bay, AL, Carol Meyer of Littleton, CO, and Nancy (Arlen) Hagen of Gillette, WY; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
