Obituary

Tenis H. Snyder, age 77, of Iroquois, SD died Friday, August 24, 2007 at his residence in Iroquois. His memorial service will be at 2:00 PM Monday, August 27 at the Trinity United Methodist Church at Iroquois with Rev. Kris Larson officiating. A private family burial will be at the Maplewood Cemetery at Iroquois with Military Graveside Services by the Bensley-Rounds American Legion Post # 280 of Iroquois. Visitation will be Sunday at Welter Funeral Home from 1:00 to 8:00 PM with a Public Prayer Service at 7:00 PM. Tenis Herman Snyder was born October 24, 1929 at Iroquois, SD, the son of Martha Ann [Hendrickson] and Joe Snyder. He attended school at Iroquois, graduating from Iroquois High School. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He married Deanna Dean on November 23, 1957 at Artesian, SD. They resided at Iroquois where Tenis was employed for Wiedenman Construction and later started Snyder Construction which he owned and operated. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Bensley-Rounds American Legion Post #280 at Iroquois, and the Iroquois Housing Association. He enjoyed playing cards with his brother-in-laws and friends, bowling, and hunting esp. pheasant and deer hunting. Tenis is survived by his wife: Deanna of Iroquois; three sons: Micheal Snyder of Carson City, NV, Kelly [Deb] Snyder of Huron, Rodney [Brenda] Snyder of Huron; one daughter: Rita Snyder of Fort Walton Beach, FL; 7 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 1 brother: Charles [Betty] Snyder of Canistota; and two sisters: Leona Sawvell of Pomona, CA and Thelma Gilland of Iroquois. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers: Perry and Matthew Snyder and 2 sisters: Hazel Gamble and Manerva Thielfold.
