T.C. Waits, age 86, of Huron, passed away on Wednesday, December 19, 2012, at the Huron Regional Medical Center. His funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, December 22, 2012, at the Holy Trinity Catholic Parish in Huron with burial at St. Martin Cemetery and military honors by the Huron Veterans Council. Visitation with the family present will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday, December 21, with a Rosary Service at 7:30 p.m. at the Welter Funeral Home; or one hour prior to the service at the Church on Saturday afternoon. T.C. Waits, the son of Clarence and Nancy (Waldron) Waits, was born on September 13, 1926, in Clayton, OK. T.C. served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was honorably discharged in 1944. T.C. married Marjorie Parquet on October 18, 1947, in Woonsocket, SD. T.C. was a brick mason and owned and operated his own Masonry business called T.C. Waits Masonry. He retired from the family business in 1996. T.C. was a member of St. Martin's Catholic Church and the Holy Trinity Catholic Parish. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion William Reaves Post #7, and the VFW Forrest McMullen Post #1776. T.C. enjoyed woodworking and bowling. He loved the outdoors especially hunting and fishing. He enjoyed taking pictures of family events and trips and making them into greeting cards and CDs. T.C. was always willing to lend a helping hand where needed. He was involved in the RSVP and Meals on Wheels and did a lot of volunteer work. Grateful for having shared in his life are his wife of 65 years, Marjorie of Huron, SD; three sons: Richard (Frances) Waits of Rapid City, SD, Michael Waits of Cheyenne, WY, and Randy (Addie) Waits of Sioux Falls, SD; two daughters: April (Richard) Marshall of Hitchcock, SD, and Pam (Ken) Freeman of Black Hawk, SD; 15 grandchildren, Joan (Thane) Barnier of Sioux Falls, SD, Nicole (Greg) Allen of Colorado Springs, CO, Katie(Joe) Nolan, of Bellevue, NE, Tom (Anne) Waits of Colorado Springs, CO, Adam (Laura) Waits of Sioux Falls, SD, John Waits of Boseman, MT, Ben (Rachel) Waits of Sioux Falls, SD, Emilie (Josh) Klein of Lavista, NE, Alex Waits of Sioux Falls, SD, Rachelle (Mike) Munson of George, IA, David (Dawn) Marshall of Wolsey, SD, Kristi (Jim) Winegar of Huron, SD, DeeAnn (Kevin) Coss of Oshkosh, NE, Chris (Jessy) Freeman Rapid City, SD, and Angela (Lyle) Wetz of Vale, SD; 29 great-grandchildren; sister, Marie (Bill) Langston of Bakersfield, CA; brother-in-law, Harold (Hazel) Parquet of Hill City, SD; sister-in-law, Berniece (Laverne) Schuster of California; and several nieces and nephews. T.C. was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers and four sisters.
