Obituary

Steven K. "Snacks" Olson, age 70, of Huron, SD, passed away on Sunday, September 30, 2018 at SunQuest Healthcare Center in Huron.

His memorial service will be at 11:00 AM, Monday, October 8, 2018 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Huron, SD with burial at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery in Huron.

Visitation will be from 9 AM until the time of service on Monday, October 8 at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish.

Steven Kip Olson was born on April 23, 1948 to Virgil and Ruth Elaine (Knapp) Olson in Huron, South Dakota. He grew up in Huron and attended Huron schools graduating in 1966. He earned the nickname "Snacks" which stuck with him and his many friends.

Snacks married Kathryn Lyle at St. Martin's Catholic Church on February 27, 1972 in Huron. Snacks worked at Terex Manufacturing for many years as a machinist.

He enjoyed watching NASCAR and Motocross and in his younger years riding dirt bikes. Snacks never missed work and cared deeply for his co-workers. He was able to find humor in any situation. He was a wonderful father, grandfather and husband.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, and special grandmother, Helen Knapp.

Snacks is survived by his wife, Kathy of Huron; sons; Brian (Alice) Olson of Minneapolis and Brad (Karlie) Olson of Huron; grandsons Felix and Teddy Olson of Minneapolis; siblings, Brad (Char) Olson of Rapid City, Kim (Leon) Roberts of Pierre and Lisa Sperl of Colorado; sister-in-law, Patsy (Dennis) Hart of Bellevue, NE; as well as many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his beloved dog, Molly.
