Obituary

Steven Axtman, age 70, of Mt. Shasta, California and formerly of Huron, passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2024. His graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m., on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at St. Martin Catholic Cemetery in Huron.

Steven John was born on September 7, 1953 to parents Casper and Arlene (Heidner) Axtman in Aberdeen. Steven attended schools in Huron and Byron, Minnesota, graduating from Huron High School in 1972.

Steve married Ann Rounds, and they had two children, Elizabeth and Nicholas. Steve attended Mitchell Vo-Tech and became a journeyman plumber.

He later married Genny Lanier and helped raise her two children, Shawn and Amy. They relocated to Mt. Shasta, California where he established his own plumbing business. Steve was an avid hunter and enjoyed hunting deer and pheasants. He also enjoyed fishing, bowling, golfing and billiards.

He is survived by his children, Nicholas of Waukee, Iowa; son-in-law, Steve Wilson of Hannibal, Missouri; stepchildren, Shawn (Heather) Lanier of Sacramento and Amy (Chris Brown) Lanier of Mt. Shasta, California; Five grandchildren, Isabella, Noah, Kasper Axtman and Stevie and Brody Wilson; and 4 step-grandchildren and 2 step great-grandchildren; his sister, Mary (Ron) Gilbert of Hitchcock and his brother, Mike (Sharon) Axtman of Byron, Minnesota; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Elizabeth Wilson; his parents; his sisters Patricia Axtman and Pamela Zoss; and his nephew, Gregory Axtman.
