Shirley Long, age 84, of Huron died Wednesday, September 15, 2010, at Violet Tschetter Memorial Home in Huron.

At her request she will be cremated and a family interment will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 25, 2010, at Akaska Cemetery in Akaska, SD.

Shirley Iona Long was born May 19, 1926, to Edward and Loretta (King) Kinkle, in Minneapolis, MN. Shirley married Carl Woods and then in 1960 she married Roy Long. Shirley and Roy joined their families together and raised them in St. Paul, MN. In 1968, they moved to Aberdeen, SD, and then on to Akaska, SD, and finally to Huron, SD.

Shirley was a loving mother and stepmother to their children. Shirley will be missed by her family and friends. We love you.

Shirley is survived by her children, Danny (Jeanie) Woods of Macomb, IL, Randy (Debbie) Woods of Canton, SD, and Greg Long of Huron, SD; step-children, Diana Horvath of St. Paul, MN, Jerry (Kathy) Long, Donald Long of St. Paul, MN; two brothers, Dick (Louise) Kinkle of St. Michael, MN, and Robert (Barb) Kinkle of Minneapolis, MN. She had many grandchildren and great grandchildren that she loved dearly.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roy Long; two sisters, Clara and Dorothy; brother, Spike.
