Obituary

Sharron L. Hanson, age 77, of Huron, SD, passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2015, at Prairie View Care Center in Woonsocket, SD. Her funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 9, 2015 at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Huron with burial at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation, with the family present, will be held from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, January 8, at the Welter Funeral Home, with a prayer service to begin at 7:00 p.m.; or one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Sharron L. Van Der Aarde, the daughter of Russell and Lucille (Paulson) Van Der Aarde, was born on March 21, 1937 in Woonsocket, SD. She attended school and graduated from Huron High School. Sharron worked as a cook for the Prairie View Care Center in Woonsocket for 23 years before retiring in 1995. Sharron married LeRoy Hansen on June 30, 1957 at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Sanborn County. The couple made their home on the family farm near Alpena and Woonsocket. Sharron was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Huron. She was also a member of Martha's Circle, LWML, and ACTS. Sharron loved to play cards and win. Sharron loved her church. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Grateful for having shared in Sharron's life are her husband, LeRoy of Huron, SD; daughter, Penny (Chuck) Lentz of Huron, SD; son, Curt Hansen of Pipestone, MN; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; sister, Linda Steffensen of Tacoma, WA; brothers-in-law, Bill Hansen of Huron, SD and Duane (MaryAnn) Hansen of Mitchell, SD; three sisters-in-law: Shirley Knutson of Huron, SD, Jan (Ken) Huber of Texas, and Darlene Hansen of Huron, SD; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Gerald Van Der Aarde; and sister, Beverly Hansen; three brothers-in-law: John Hansen, Jack Steffenson, and Marvin Knutson; and three sisters-in-law: Norma Spellbring, Michiko Van Der Aarde, and Delores Moilan.
