Scott Johnson, age 51, of Madison, formerly of Huron, died on Saturday, May 3, 2008 at the Avera McKennan Health Center in Sioux Falls, SD. His Memorial service is scheduled for 10:30 AM Saturday, May 10, 2008, at the Welter Funeral Home in Huron with the Rev. Richard Rinearson officiating. There will be no burial of the cremated remains. The family will be present at the funeral home from 8:00 AM until the time of the service on Saturday.

Scott Johnson the son of Robert L. and Joanne M. (Ritter) Johnson, was born on April 3, 1957 in Huron, SD. He graduated from Huron High School in 1975. Scott married Susan J. Qualm on March 29, 1979 in Huron, SD. Scott worked as a lead instructor for the Huron Area Center for Independence for many years before retiring in 2000 because of health issues.

"Scotty boy" as he was lovingly called by his family had many talents. He enjoyed playing and writing music, and writing poetry. He also produced music under the name, 'Love, Calvin'. His biggest talent was making people love him. He loved his daughters, Sarah and Rachael, and his four grandchildren. Scott was very close to his family. He brought much laughter and tears to our lives, and now God has taken him home where he will be at peace. There will always be an empty spot in our lives.

Grateful for having shared his life are his daughters, Rachael Johnson, Madison, SD and Sarah (Lane) Qualm-Smalley, Sioux Falls, SD; his four grandchildren, Mason, Lilly, Gavin, and Madeline; two brothers, Todd (Juanita) Johnson and David L. Johnson both of Huron, SD; sister, Shelly (John) Wilson, Huron, SD; and many nieces and nephews.

Scott was preceded in death by his grandparents, Herb and Carol Ritter and Merle and Alfred Johnson; and his sister-in-law, Michele (Qualm) Johnson.
