Scott Ira Huff, age 60 of Rapid City, SD passed away on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at the Monument Health Hospital in Rapid City, SD. His memorial service will be at 11:30 AM on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at the Bethel Baptist Church in Brookings, SD with a private family burial at the Arlington City Cemetery in Arlington, SD. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
Scott Ira Huff, the son of Robert Arthur and Donna Lee (Childs) Huff, was born on July 18, 1963 in Houston, TX. Scott attended various grade schools in New Jersey, Texas, and Rapid City, SD. He attended Huron Middle School and Huron High School and received his GED in Brookings. He also attended Mitchell Technical College and studied carpentry.
He was a member of The First Presbyterian Church in Huron, SD, accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized as a young man.
Scott lived in various cities throughout the United States including Huron and Brookings before settling in Rapid City. Scott worked for 3M and Larsen Manufacturing in Brookings. He worked various jobs as a resident of the Black Hills Workshop in Rapid City until his early retirement due to illness. He was especially loved there by caring and loving Caregivers until his passing!
Scott was a member of the Boy Scouts of America, he loved to collect Baseball cards, enjoyed drawing and sports, especially baseball. Scott was a member of the Special Olympics and played First Baseman on the Special Olympics Team that won the State Championship as a member of The Brookings Area Adjustment Training Center (now Advance). He also belonged to a bike trek club in Brookings and biked thru the Black Hills and to Devils Tower more than once.
Grateful for having shared in Scott's life are his mother, Donna Lee (Childs) Huff-Bartholow of Brookings, SD; two brothers, Robert J Huff and William (Bill) R. Huff of Huron, SD; step-brothers; Earl (Lynn) Bartholow of Sioux Falls, SD, Stephen Bartholow of Gold Hill, OR, and Bruce (Susan) Bartholow of Iowa City, IA; and his nephews, Chase and Cadden Huff both of Huron, SD, step-nephews Jackson Bartholow of Des Moines, IA, Benjamin O'Neal Bartholow of Iowa City, IA, and step-nieces, Abbey Bartholow of Medford, OR, Emmy and Chloe Kimball of Minneapolis, MN, Jose Kimball of St. Peter, MN, and Presley Kimball of Providence, RI.
Scott was preceded in death by his father, Robert A. Huff, step-father, Thomas E. Bartholow; grandfather James Rogers Childs, and grandmother Audrey V. Holloway.
