Sarah Otto, age 75, of Huron, died Friday, August 19, 2011 at Huron Regional Medical Center in Huron. Her memorial service will be 2:00 pm Thursday, August 25, 2011 at the Salvation Army in Huron with burial of her cremated remains in Riverside Cemetery. Memorial visitation will be one hour prior to her service at the Salvation Army. Sarah Otto was born June 26, 1936 in Alexandria, SD to Art and Mabel (Herron) North. Sarah attended Davison County School through the eighth grade. Sarah married James Otto on January 12, 1955 in Mitchell, SD. She worked as a nurse at the St. John's Regional Medical Center in Huron. Sarah also worked for a time in assembly for Midcom, then later in life volunteered at the Salvation Army for over 3 years, joining the Army and becoming a Soldier. Sarah's hobbies included crocheting, embroidery, and giving people a hard time. She was a member of the TOPS club, the YaYa Club, and the Mother's of Morningside. Sarah was also a 4H leader, and a member of the Home League for the Salvation Army. She love being around her grandchildren and her volunteer work at the Salvation Army. Sarah is survived by her daughters, Rose (Benny) Mogler of Lake Preston, Annette (Gordon) Iverson of Doland; 15 grandchildren, Rocky, Trisha, Steven, Jamie, Kay, Sara, Bobbie Jo, Alex, John, Mary, Jacob, Tony, Kiara, Jessie, Scott; 17 great grandchildren; one step great great grandchild; daughter-in-law, Julie Berg, of Redfield; brother, Ted (Karen) North; sisters, Sue (David) Christman, Lucy North, Geraldine Roth, Bonnie (Mike) Clark, Dee (Jerry) North, Peggy North, Mary Alice Rose; many nieces and nephews. Sarah was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James in 1992; three sons, Terry, Dennis, Mike; Daughter, Joanne; grandson, Dustin Tilton; brothers, Tim, Bill, Joe; sister, Margaret; and special friend, Lenny.
