Sandra Martin, age 62, of Fort Worth, TX, formerly of Huron, SD, died Wednesday, July 18, 2012, in Dallas, TX. Her graveside service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 28, at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Wessington Springs. There will be no visitation. Sandra Martin was born Sandra Lucinda Bowar, daughter of Alfred and Gertrude (Kopke) Bowar, on March 12, 1950, at St. Mary's Hospital in Pierre, SD. She moved to Huron with her family where she attended school, and was a member of St. Martin's Catholic Church. Sandra graduated from Huron High School in 1968. On February 14, 1969, Sandra married Robert Kokesh at her parent's home in Huron. The following year they moved to Spearman, TX, where her husband worked on oil rigs. They also worked for a carnival. When the marriage ended, she worked for the Spearman newspaper as a typesetter, and for the Spearman Café as a cook, where she met Amos Martin. On March 26, 1982, Sandra and Amos were married in Booker, TX. They moved to Odessa, TX, where she was employed by Permian Printing making stamps and setting type. Following Amos' death, Sandra worked at Family Dollar Store and Dollar General Store as manager in Fritch, TX, Odessa, TX, and around New Mexico. In 2001, she returned to Huron when her father's health began to fail. She managed the Family Dollar Store in Huron. In 2005, Sandra moved to Ft. Worth, TX, to be close to her sister, Linda. Sandra managed the Family Dollar Store and then Dollar General Store during that time. During her 10 month illness she lived in Dallas, TX. The years of working in store management and helping customers was her greatest joy. She always gave 110%. Grateful for sharing in her life are 1 brother, William Bowar of Chamberlain, SD; 3 sisters, Linda (Allan) Wolfe of Frisco, TX, Cheryl (David Fettis) Hardie of Abilene, TX, and Carla (John) Alonzo of Longmont, CO; 2 nephews and 3 nieces; extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Amos Martin; brothers Francis Bowar and Jimmy Bowar.
