Ruth F. Wilson, age 94, of 1238 Kansas Ave. SE, Huron, died Saturday, July 9, 2005, at the Huron Nursing Home. Her funeral service will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday, July 13, at the Welter Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Rinearson officiating. Burial will be at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday afternoon and evening or Wednesday morning prior to the service at the Welter Funeral Home. Ruth Wilson was born Ruth Fern Boyd on May 3, 1911, to Charles and Leona (Bock) Boyd at Rock Island, IL. She moved to a farm near Redfield as a young girl and graduated from Redfield High School. On August 5, 1931, Ruth married Frank Wilson at Pierre, SD. They made their home in Huron where she was employed at Armour and Company, managed Loren's Lounge, and worked at Walker Flower Shop. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and taught Sunday School for a number of years. She was a past member of Ladies of the Moose, Huron Regional Medical Center Auxiliary and was the volunteer of the year in 1995. She was a member of the Women's Bowling League, Women's Golf Association, Huron Area Senior Center, and over 90 Bowler's Club. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother and an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish and golf. She was the Tri State Archery Champion, a member of the State Bowling Team Champions, State Doubles Team Champions, and senior Olympics Golf and Bowling Winner for several years in the mid 1990's. She was given the title of "Bowling Queen of the 90's" and was the oldest active woman bowler in the state from 2001 to 2004. She is survived by one son, Michael (Carol) Wilson at P.O. Box 776, Hales Corners, WI, 53130; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank on January 11, 2004; her parents; three brothers Ralph, Merrit, and Harold Boyd; and two sisters, Violet Geuke, and June Taft.
