Ruth N. Quiram, age 88, of 257 Colorado St. SW, Huron, died Wednesday, June 17, 2009, at the Violet Tschetter Memorial Home in Huron.
Her Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, June 22, 2009, at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, Huron, with burial at the Virgil Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1-7 p.m. Sunday, June 21, at Welter Funeral Home with the family present from 5-7 p.m., and a devotional service at 7:00 p.m.; or one hour prior to the srvice at the church on Monday.
Ruth N. Hawk, the daughter of Frank W. and Chloe (Bourne) Hawk, was born on July 8, 1920, in Frankfort, SD. She graduated from Wessington Springs High School. Ruth married Ervie O. Quiram on February 1, 1939, in Huron, SD. They farmed near Virgil until Ervies death in 1990. Ruth owned and operated her own painting service for 38 years.
Ruth was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church in Virgil, where she taught Sunday school and Bible study. She was also a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Huron. She was a member of the American Legion Womens Auxilliary in Virgil, and the Jolly Neighbors Extension Club. Ruth enjoyed making hookrugs. She was known as a fun-loving person, and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Grateful for having shared her life are her son, Donald (Donna) Quiram, Huron, SD; her daughter Lila Meyer, Huron, SD; daughter-in-law, Crystal; 4 grandkids: Rick (Julia) Meyer, Vicky Meyer, Robin Deming, and Chanel Donald; 5 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, George (Joanne) Hawk, Nebraska and Max (Jane) Hawk, Yankton, SD; 2 sisters, Audreey (Dwayne) Edwards, Wessington Springs, SD, and Zola Ashley, Pukwana, SD; and many nieces and nephews.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ervie in 1990; sons, Ervie Lee and Richard Quiram; daughter, Nyla Quiram; grandson, Revy Quiram; son-in-law, Al Meyer; brother, Jim Hawk; and sister Jean Neal.
