Ruth Mahoney, age 83, of Flandreau, and formerly of Huron, died Sunday, March 12, 2006, at the home of her daughter at Flandreau. Her funeral service will be at 10:30 AM Wednesday, March 15, at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Lew Christensen officiating. Burial will be at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call this Tuesday afternoon and evening at the Welter Funeral Home or prior to the service at the church Wednesday morning. Ruth Mahoney was born Ruth Lorraine Fliss on November 6, 1922, to William Wesley and Effie (Reaves) Fliss at Huron, SD. She grew up in Huron and graduated from Huron High School in 1940. She then attended and graduated from Beautician School in Minneapolis. She was a hair stylist for 42 years in Huron. Ruth married Albert Al Mahoney on March 6, 1948, in Huron. Ruth lived in Huron for 78 years and in 2000, she moved to Flandreau to be near her daughter. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Huron. She is survived by 1 son, William (Linda) Mahoney of Virginia Beach, VA; 1 daughter, Lynda (Dan) VonEye of Flandreau, SD; 7 grandchildren, Daniel (Rhea) VonEye, Jr., Chad (Samantha) VonEye, Lori (Shon) Keith, Heath (Candice) VonEye, Jamie (Brianna) VonEye, Michelle (Brenden) Shannon, and Patrick Mahoney. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Al on June 16, 1984; and an infant brother, Robert. Casket Bearers will be Dan VonEye, Jr., Chad VonEye, Shon Keith, Heath VonEye, Jamie VonEye, and Jordan VonEye.
