Ruth M. Hegg, age 93, of Pocatello, ID, formerly of Huron, and the Wessington area, died on Thursday, September 9, 2009 at the Quail Ridge Assisted Living Center in Pocatello, ID.

Her burial will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 15, at the Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery in Huron followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m on Tuesday at the First Presbyterian Church in Huron.

Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. Monday, September 14, at the Welter Funeral Home with the family present from 5-7 p.m. that night; or one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.

Ruth Marie Daugherty, the daughter of Charles and Addye (Thompson) Daugherty was born on December 31, 1915 near Huron, South Dakota. Ruth attended rural schools and graduated from Alpena High School. Ruth married George Eggleston on January 28, 1936, and they lived on the home ranch southeast of Wessington, SD. After his death, Ruth married Walter Hegg on February 14, 1979 in Huron, South Dakota.

Ruth was a homemaker who loved gardening, word find puzzles, playing pinochle, bird watching, a good joke, and going to dances. She was happiest when her toes were tapping to a waltz or a two-step, and she was always on the lookout for someone whom she could whip at a game of checkers.

Grateful for having shared her life are her 2 daughters: Joyce Eggleston and Cleo (Sam) Nettinga, all of Pocatello, ID; 8 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren; her brother, James Daughtery, of Oregon; and sister, Emma Timothy, of Huron, SD; and former son-in-law, Paul Nettinga of Custer, SD.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, George Eggleston; second husband, Walter; daughter, Diane Nettinga; her brother Edward; and 3 sisters, Dora, Hazel, and Lois.
