Ruth P. Cooper, age 96, of Huron died Thursday, November 13, 2014 at SunQuest Healthcare Center. Her memorial service will be at 11:00 am on Monday, November 17, 2014 at American Lutheran Church in Huron with private inurnment at Riverside Cemetery. Memorial visitation will be from 5 pm until 7 pm on Sunday, November 16, 2014 at Welter Funeral Home; or one hour prior to the service at the church. Ruth Pauline (Miller) Cooper was born on December 22, 1917 in Castlewood, SD to Humphrey and Marie (Janssen) Miller. She attended school in Castlewood and later moved to Estelline with her family as her father worked for the railroad. Ruth married Gynther Engbretson on September 14, 1939. They had a restaurant business in Estelline prior to moving to Watertown and then to Huron. Ruth married Keith Cooper on January 21, 1961 and after Keith's passing, she later married William Cooper on July 24, 1967. Ruth worked at Spargo's Café in Huron, JC Penny, and retired with Sears and Roebuck after many years of employment. She is survived by one daughter, Bonnie (James) Sheridan of Huron who she lived with until entering SunQuest Healthcare Center in April of 2013; 2 grandsons, Anthony Sheridan of Sioux Falls, and Jonathan Sheridan of Mankato, MN; four great grandchildren, Dylan Frisch, Chloe Sheridan, Preslie Sheridan, and Marley Sheridan; and one niece, Lynda (Arlan) Vollan of Red Wing, MN. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; and one brother, Raymond Miller.
