Ruth Christopherson, age 85, of 1345 Michigan Ave. SW, Huron, and formerly of Iroquois, died Friday, August 27, 2004, at the Huron Nursing Home. Her memorial service will be at 10:30 AM Tuesday, August 31, at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church with Rev. Dale Sattgast & Rev. Christopher Ascher officiating. Burial will be at 9:30 AM Tuesday at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call Monday afternoon and evening at the Welter Funeral Home with the family present from 7:00 to 8:30 PM. Ruth Christopherson was born Ruth Ellen Hofmann on June 7, 1919, to Henry and Alice (Burrington) Hofmann in Frankfort, SD. When Ruth was a young girl, her family moved to Huron where she attended Huron Public Schools. On May 24, 1940, Ruth married Marcel Christopherson at Huron. They lived on a farm seven miles south of Iroquois until 1978, when they moved to Iroquois. Ruth was a full-time homemaker and farmer. She enjoyed raising bottle lambs, cooking and following her children and grandchildren through their 4-H activities. In 2001 Ruth moved to the Huron Nursing Home. She was a member of the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, Whist Club, Sewing Club and the D.O.C. Club. She is survived by one daughter, Margaret (Darrel) Reuer of rural Iroquois; four grandchildren, Nikki (Shane) Briggs, Kristi (Jeremy) Wallman, Juli (Brock) Anshutz and Robert Milbrandt; one great-grandson, Landon Ryan Wallman; and one brother, Robert Hofmann of Huron. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Marcel in 1994, her son Duane Christopherson in 1985, and one granddaughter, Amy Christopherson in 1983.
