Russell J. Doolittle, age 70, of Huron, formerly of Wolsey, SD a beloved farmer, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 28, 2023, at the Huron Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, May 4, 2023 at Welter Funeral Home in Huron, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Russell James Doolittle was born on December 9, 1952, to Willis and Etta Mae Doolittle in Wolsey, South Dakota. Russell graduated from Wolsey High School in 1971 and attended South Dakota State University in Brookings with a major in Agriculture.

Russell was a passionate farmer who loved working with cattle and finding creative solutions to agricultural challenges. He was known for his innovative ideas and dedication to improving the farming industry. He always enjoyed games and cooking unique foods and sharing his culinary creations with his family and friends.

Russell was an uncle to many and took great joy in spending time with his nieces and nephews. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and was a pillar of support for his family. His kindness and generosity will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Russell was preceded in death by his parents, Willis and Etta Mae Doolittle, and his brother, Barry Doolittle.

He is survived by his sisters Lynnette Jensen of Iowa, Sharon Reel of Texas; many nieces and nephews, who will always remember him as a loving uncle and friend: and special friend Desirae (Andrew Small) Schaffer of Huron, SD.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice that supports causes that impacted Russell, such as the American Diabetes Association.

Russell James Doolittle will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the agricultural community. His contributions to farming and his passion for creative solutions will never be forgotten. Rest in peace, Russell.
