Ruby A. Sorenson, age 85, of 1345 Michigan Ave. SW, Huron, SD, died on Monday, April 21, 2008, at the Huron Nursing Home in Huron, SD. Her funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Friday, April 25, 2008, at the Welter funeral Home in Huron with Richard Harbur and Gayle Motley officiating. Burial will be at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery in Huron. Visitation with the family present will be Friday, April 21, 2008, at 1:00 PM until time of service at the Welter Funeral Home in Huron. Ruby Sorenson, the daughter of Chris and Laura (Throndson) Sorenson, was born on November 21, 1922 on the family farm in Roberts County near Sisseton, SD. She attended nearby Long Hollow #3 Country School through the 8th grade. Ruby worked as a professional cake decorator for many bakeries in North and South Dakota before working for the Randall Bakery in Huron for 16 years. Ruby was a member of the Nondenominational Church. She enjoyed baking and traveling Grateful for having shared her life are her four sisters: Pearl (Earl) Mosier of Huron, Alma McKelvey of Aberdeen, Grace (Vernon) Molenaar of New London, MN, and Florence Miller of New London, MN; 2 sisters-in-law, Bertha Sorenson of Spearfish, and Jeraldine Sorenson of Sisseton; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Agnes Williams, Cora Sorenson, Alice Sorenson, and Esther Sorenson; four brothers, Conrad, Magnus, Alvin, and Leonard Sorenson; 2 sisters-in-law, Eloise Sorenson and Florence Sorenson; 3 brothers-in-law, Loverne McKelvey, Richard Miller, and Burnett Williams.
