Rose Harvey, age 95, of 1345 Michigan Ave. SW, Huron, SD, died Tuesday, December 30, 2008, at the Huron SunQuest Healthcare Center.
Her body has been cremated and a memorial service will be held in the Spring.

Rose Harvey was born Rose B. Delvaux on May 10, 1913, on the family homestead in Cavour, SD. She was the fifth child of eight children born to pioneer's Desire and Mary Ann Delvaux. During her childhood, she worked on the family homestead in Cavour, SD, helping her father and family raise racehorses.
On October 15, 1932, Rose married Roland 'Cap' Harvey in Fort Pierre, SD. They had four children and enjoyed 69 years of marriage. During their time together, they made their home in Sioux Falls, SD, and Robinsdale, MN, where Cap worked in a machine shop.
In 1948, they moved to Wall, SD, where they owned and operated the Wigwam Café and the Standard gas station. In 1953 they moved to Huron, SD, where they owned and operated their own business, Harvey's Radio and TV until the time that they retired.
During the Vietnam War, Rose worked at Ravens in Huron, SD, as a seamstress sewing parachutes for the troops. Rose also worked for a time at the Violet Tschetter Memorial Home in Huron, SD.
Over the years, Rose enjoyed gardening, fishing, camping, golfing, playing cards, bingo and spending time with family and friends. Rose lived a full life witnessing the First Woman vote, World wars, the Great Depression, and the Dust Bowl years. Rose was especially proud to shake hands with Senator Robert Kennedy during his stop in Huron, SD, while campaigning for President. Rose was member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church and will be missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by 2 sons, Roland and wife Sharon of Waterloo, IL, and Thomas and wife Lois of Huron, SD; 1 daughter, Mary Ellen Schmidtberger of Itasca, TX; and one sister-in-law, Ursula Delvaux; 11 grandchildren, David Harvey and wife Teri, Jeff Harvey, Pam McKinzie and husband Phil, Teri Harvey Gallaher and husband Steve, Katina Castro and husband Armando, Jamie Schmidtberger and wife Kiley, Janie Schmidtberger, Cindy Norris and husband Donnie, Wenda Hornig and husband Bill, Doug Harvey and wife Carrie, and Mark Harvey and wife Janell; 23 great grandchildren; Spenser, Erin and Haley Harvey; Roarke, Pierce and Seth McKinzie; Ashleigh Harvey; Ian and Emma Gallaher; Levi and Jessica Castro; Tyrus Schmidtberger; Jordyn and Jaydon Wingfield; Tish Grieve; Nissa de la Torre and husband Manuel; Kyle and Kim Hofer; Shaun ;Cassie and Aaron Harvey; Bailey and Kayla Harvey; 2 great great grandchildren; Darius and Thorin Grieve; and several nieces and nephews survive Rose.
In addition to her husband and daughter Rose Marie, she was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Archie, Charles, and Lawrence Delvaux. Four sisters, Marie Lowrey, Lillian Niezert, Cecelia Melvin and Ida Delvaux, and one son-in-law Leon Schmidtberger.
